Tofu and rice are nice, but karage are not that good. This is a real local restaurant.

All foods here taste great and inexpensive. Servers are friendly.There is always waiting line outside.

Draft beer is a good order.The food is too notch. Been eating here for 2 weeks during spring time. Favourite set meal was the fried horse mackerel set meal. The deep fried shrimp is a good deal too.

Wide array of home style Japanese food. Big seafoods, but they do have other choices...like chicken. Everything can be made to order as alacrte or set meal. Prices are ok.

It is delicious what you eat. Especially fish dishes are recommended.

Good fried food, fish and shrimps. You always need to wait for a while but it worths.

Did not really meet our expectations and unfortunately the staff doesn't speak english so we could not ask too much. We tried this place anyway and thought it was okay. Good if you're on budget.

It's a local small shop and always with long queue. Please be patient cuz the food is so good that it's worth to wait. Excellent food!! And it's unbelievably cheap!! However, you must know some Japanese for ordering, cuz all the menu are written on the wall, no photos menu is available. Can't wait to go again!

My favorite shokudo in Tokyo. Reasonable price and delicious food that serves locals and tourists. Must try their fried shrimp combo along with their daily fresh sashimi moriwase.

Totally yummy food. Nice sashimi, yummy yummy tofu and great pork. Staff are very friendly and helpful and service very good. So good we went 2 days in a row and didn't want to look for any other option.

Simple, tasty, inexpensive Japanese food. Set lunch only around 1200 yen. And I order the special of season fried oyster set (1240 yen) plus sashimi main course (880 yen) what a bargain for such quality food. The oyster are big and sashimi càn not get more fresh. Might have long queue waiting during lunch time. But still very quick. I only waited less than 10 minutes.

Reasonably priced and staffs were very polite and helpful. They do provide an English menu and the staffs are able to converse in basic English.

Great place for traditional set menus. The tempura and soba were so good. I would have given 5 star if they have more options on the English menu. After I ordered, I noticed the Japanese were having steam while fish. I would love to order that as well.

Very nice that they let you order by piece so you could try different things without ordering a full lunch set menu. Taste is average but very crispy.

There is in Sugamo. Sugamo is famous place as elderly people’s Harajuku. But the atmosphere is good for young generation. We can enjoy Japanese local foods with reasonable price. You should try it.

The garlic karaage is amazing, along with their fried offerings. にんにくからあげは最高。

Great place with reasonable price to get typical Japanese set meal. Sometimes crowded (especially during weekends, holidays). When I visited it, the menu was on the wall and had no English version, which made it a bit hard for foreigners to order.

Panko fried seafood and meat, but not only that. The line was out the door to get in and there was a semblance of an English menu. Which is a huge plus when a lot of local joints don't even bother. Ask for a sampler plate, you'll get a mix without duds or unknowns.

This is the local spot to try in Sugamo, friendly good taste, reasonable. Don’t expect English, you may not get it. See the signs, local special seasonal fish or dishes recommended. Almost always a bit of a waiting line, but people move in and out quick enough, and it’s worth the wait. Oh, by the way, they start to sell a funky black T-shirt, mostly Japanese, and if you wear that, look really like a local insider Sugamo player.
